WHAT IS META?
2021 marks the 3rd annual semester of META.
The META Mural Residency is a unique experience for three professional artists, but new or first-time muralists in Charlotte, who want to learn the craft & techniques of mural making in a hands-on environment. During this 10-week residency, artists learn the ins & outs of developing murals with 5-weeks of classes diving into key topics lead by pro muralists. Moving into the field, our 3 artists will collectively design & lead a guided project working with community volunteers. The semester culminates in October with each artist painting their first individual mural on a prominent wall, adding more art, color & representation to the city of Charlotte.
META 2021 will create 4 or more new murals, while supporting local 20 artists & businesses.

COMMUNITY IMPACT
While META is a resource for artists to learn & expand their crafts, it also benefits the Charlotte community by making the Arts more accessible. From business partners who provide a canvas for an artist's voice to volunteers who have a chance to paint beside their neighbors, murals and the arts provide a platform to further a conversation, connect with others and build a stronger community together.
